hello there!
My name is Kye Jasper (they/them). I’m a multidisciplinary visual artist and graphic designer.
My artistic practice began with writing and performing poetry and transitioned to visual arts approximately five years ago. Through courses in screen printing and film photography, I became enamored with art-making processes requiring layered steps and technical precision. This fascination permeates my portfolio, where repetitive and time-consuming processes of cutting, dyeing, folding, and piecing link my work across various media.
Storytelling remains a driving creative force, as I evoke textured narratives about grief, nostalgia, desire, and love. I aim through my art practice to create spaces for play and envision futures that are more joyful, loving, and connected than the past I survived.
My practice is informed by my identities as a queer and genderqueer person. I lead intimate workshops centered on building queer community through textile arts.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and Communications from Simmons University, specializing in typography and layout design.
I am currently based in Chicago, where I study Art Therapy and Counseling at Adler University.
